About Me

Hello there!

My name is Cazz to you Guys, however, I’m also known as ‘Mummy’ in our gaff to our three boys, Herbie, and twins Indie and Felix.

So, me, what can I say? I guess I’m described as  ‘a contemporary crafts person’ specialising in ceramics. Though really, I’m a Potter! All my work is handmade by myself from my new garden studio in rural Carlisle, Cumbria.

I have always been a crafty-bod. I studied Contemporary Applied Arts at both Degree and Masters level at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, graduating my Masters in 2006. Since then I have always worked within the ceramics world, teaching and demonstrating but most importantly, setting up my own handmade ceramics business. I love what I do and I do what I love!

I am inspired by being ‘in-and-out’ of the garden. My work is designed to be fun and often functional, with a quirky style and vintage feel. I love anything ‘weird’ and ‘offbeat’. I am a very keen gardener and a collector of ‘stuff and things’! I have recently become a Beekeeper! I am in actual love with these little beasties. They are currently informing and inspiring my current makes!

I make ranges of work for inside the home and outside in the garden, combining a range of materials, techniques and processes to create the pieces. I predominantly slip-cast with porcelain and hand-build with Magma Crank. Underglaze printing, collaging, textured papers, my Grandma’s old buttons, decal transfers and my illustrations are lovingly combined to create my pieces. Each piece being slightly different from the next.

I also undertake commissions for bespoke pieces and occasions. Do feel free to get in touch, I do love a chin-wag!

I hope you enjoy my work, Cazz xxx
